Lean In

“Be in your life.”

A wonderful woman named Betsy Garmond first introduced me to this thought.  I had the privilege of learning from her during my time in the CGA with Adventures in Missions and tried to soak in as much wisdom from her as I could.

This phrase has come to mind often as I’m transitioning into life here.

It may sound silly but maybe for the first time in my life I feel like I’ve taken a deep breath, slowly released it, and actually have the freedom to settle in and get comfy.

I feel that I’m in a place in my life where I can really discover more about the passions inside of me and how to use them.

And strangely enough I feel that I “fit” right where I’m at even though so many details haven’t been worked out yet.

I feel being called to really start “being in my own life” and digging into the every day.  I feel the Lord inviting me to invest, try new things and enjoy the day-to-day.

I read this book before coming called The In-Between: Embracing the Tension Between Now and the Next Big Thing by Jeff Goins.  It’s basically a call to live in the moment, no matter how simple or even mundane that moment is.

Be present.

Be still.

Pay attention to what’s right in front of you instead of just living for life’s “big” events like weddings and births and special events.

The small things make up the majority of your life.

I don’t want to look back on my life and find out that I missed out on the bulk of what it was made up of because I was always focusing on “the next thing.”

I feel the Lord saying, “Just lean into Me.”

So yeah, take some time today and the rest of this week to just breath.  Look at who the Father has put into your path.

Notice what things you say “yes” and “no” to.

Show up for YOUR life.

Ask the Lord to show you what to do and where to go.

Don’t be afraid to ask.  He delights in you and looks at you with the loving eyes of the proudest Father.

Lean into Him with an open mind and an obedient spirit.

There is always more of Him to discover.

Lean in.

“This is what the LORD says: stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’ “Jeremiah 6:16
